Reddish Maid “International Footballers of Today” (1965)

Reddish Maid Confections was a confectionery company based on Newark Road, Stockport – an area dominated by the cotton trade right up until the 1950’s. The confectionery factory was known locally as “The Toffee Works”, probably on account of its very popular Chocolate Covered Toffee which appears to have bene in production from the 1930s through to the 1950/60s. The company produced several sets of cards, all of which were caricature/hand drawn, but only one was produced which featured football players.

If you know any more of the history of Reddish Maid Confectionery please do get in touch – it would be good to be able to put a bit more “meat-on-the-bones” of the little bit of information I have been able to garner.
