When the Whistle Blows: The Story of the Footballers’ Battalion in the Great War (Centennial Edition)
Not a cigarette and trade card book per se, but a fascinating and very moving read of the young footballers of the UK, and the decisions and experiences that faced them with the onset of World War I. If like me you are a fan of pre – WWI football related cards, you will find a lot of information in this book about the faces that stare back at you from so many of those cards.
The Brooke Bond Tea Cards Reference Book
A great read for all those who like me remember eagerly awaiting the opening of a new box of Brooke Bond tea and to see which card was hidden within. With the UK being a nation of tea drinkers, these cards were collected in their millions during the heyday of the 1960’s and 70’s, and as such have a soft spot in so many of our hearts. For the super collector, there are also cards from all over the Commonwealth to keep you busy.
Brooke Bond Picture Cards: The First Forty Years
As with the above, a must for all collectors of Brooke Bond Tea Cards.
The First World War on Cigarette and Trade Cards
An interesting angle on World War I, told through the medium of Cigarette and Trade Cards. The period directly before, during and following the conflict were a real golden era for card production, with some of the most sought after and beautifully produced of all cards coming to the market.
